Bio

You were a four-year letterwinner on the football team at Olivet. As a defensive back, you earned first-team All-MIAA honors in 1973, 1974 and 1975, and an honorable mention All-MIAA selection in 1972. In 1974, your play helped the Comets win an outright MIAA football championship for the first time since 1913. Many believe you were the heart and soul of the Comet defense during that championship season. You also served as team captain for three years.

You graduated from Olivet with a bachelor’s degree in biology and from Michigan State University with a master’s degree in secondary administration in 1987. After graduating from Olivet, you stayed for one season to begin your coaching career.

You then started your high school coaching career at Eaton Rapids as assistant varsity football coach, assistant wrestling coach and science teacher from 1977-79.

Soon after, you would become a coach and educator at East Kentwood High School. From 1980-2014, you served as head wrestling coach. For your accomplishments, you were  selected as a Michigan Wrestling Association Hall of Fame coach in 2014.

At East Kentwood, you were also part of the football coaching staff from 1980-2004. In addition, you served as a science and social studies teacher for 18 years before becoming the assistant principal for 16 years. You retired from the education field on June 30, 2014.

Olivet honors you and is proud to induct you into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame this 10th day of October, 2014.
