Olivet College’s Braner earns Academic All-District honors
Olivet College junior Anna Braner (Belmond, Iowa/Marshall) has earned 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV second-team softball honors, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College junior Anna Braner (Belmond, Iowa/Marshall) has earned 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV second-team softball honors, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America. She is the fifth Olivet student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors during the 2007-08 academic year.
Braner is an insurance/risk management major and has a 3.97 grade point average. She finished the 2008 season with a .321 batting average to go along with 27 runs scored, 34 hits, nine doubles, one triple, two home runs, 18 RBI, 17 walks and 12 stolen bases. Braner's 17 walks broke Olivet's single-season record.
Off the softball field, Braner has served as the Vice President of Career Services for Gamma Iota Sigma, Olivet's professional insurance and risk management society. She also holds an Association in Insurances Services designation.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded in athletic competition and in the classroom. The members of the All-District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be eligible, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20.
