McIntosh and Schoen named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV second-team
Olivet College sophomore catcher Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) and sophomore third baseman Katelan Schoen (Climax Scotts) have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV baseball and softball second-team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College sophomore catcher Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) and sophomore third baseman Katelan Schoen (Climax Scotts) have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV baseball and softball second-team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America. The District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
McIntosh, who has a 3.88 grade point average (GPA) in criminal justice, was second on the team with a .343 batting average (46-of-134), 34 runs scored, 46 base hits, seven home runs, 41 RBIs and .597 slugging percentage.
Schoen, who has a 3.73 GPA in biology, had a .326 batting average (31-of-95) and ranked second on the team with four home runs and 28 RBIs.
McIntosh and the Comets finished the 2005 season with a 21-16 overall record and 10-11 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) mark. Schoen and the Comets had a 22-16 overall record and 11-5 MIAA mark. The 22 wins broke the college's single-season record.
