Olivet College’s Weaver selected to Academic All-America® second-team
Olivet College senior-to-be Jalen Weaver (Albion) has been selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country second-team, as selected by CoSIDA.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior-to-be Jalen Weaver (Albion) has been selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men's Track and Field/Cross Country second-team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Weaver carries a 3.93 grade point average in exercise science. He became the first Olivet student-athlete to compete at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, participating in the 800-meter run. Weaver was the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) outdoor champion in the 800-meter run, and ran the anchor leg of the second-place 4x400-meter relay. Those performances helped him earn All-MIAA honors. Weaver holds the school-record holder in the 800 indoors (1:53.50) and outdoors (1:53.13).
Weaver is the 18th Olivet student-athlete to earn Academic All-America® honors in school history, including the fifth during the 2013-14 academic year. He is the first-ever Olivet men's track & field/cross country athlete to earn the honor.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 19,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
