Olivet College’s Edwards named to Academic All-District VI football team
College senior punter Anthony Edwards (Clarksville/Lakewood) has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District VI Football Team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior punter Anthony Edwards (Clarksville/Lakewood) has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District VI Football Team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in November.
Edwards, who has a 3.5 grade point average in accounting, has averaged 32.7 yards on 45 punts this season. Only 10 of the punts have been returned by the opponent, with five of the punts going for a touchback, 18 being fair caught and another 13 landing inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Edwards has made 8-of-11 point-after-touchdown kicks.
The Comets are back in action Saturday when they host Trine (Ind.) University. Kick-off from the Cutler Athletic Complex is 1 p.m.
