Olivet College’s Miller earns 2007 Academic All-District IV first-team honors
Olivet College senior defensive lineman Marc Miller (Sunfield/Lake Odessa) has earned 2007 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team honors in football.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior defensive lineman Marc Miller (Sunfield/Lake Odessa) has earned 2007 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District IV first-team honors in football. He advances to the national college division Academic All-America® ballot.
Miller has a 3.63 grade point average in biology with a pre-medicine concentration. He began the season as the starting strong safety before moving to the starting defensive rush end position at the start of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic (MIAA) play. For the season, Miller has 29 solo and 20 assisted tackles for 49 total stops, including a team-leading 13.5 tackles for loss yardage. He also leads the team with five quarterback sacks and four forced fumbles. Off the football field, Miller is a member of the Alpha Pi Upsilon (pre-med honor society).
Miller and the Comets will conclude the regular-season portion of its schedule Saturday when they host Kalamazoo College. Kickoff from the Cutler Athletic Complex is 1 p.m. With a win, Olivet will clinch at least a share of the 2007 MIAA Championship.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded in athletic competition and in the classroom. The members of the All-District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be eligible, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20.
