Olivet College’s Holm and Plourde earn Academic All-District VI honors
Olivet College seniors Jeff Holm and Adrienne Plourde have been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District VI At-large teams, as selected by CoSIDA.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College seniors Jeff Holm (Battle Creek/Lakeview) and Adrienne Plourde (Livonia/Redford Thurston) have been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District VI At-large teams, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced the first week of June.
Holm has a perfect 3.89 grade point average (GPA) in biology with pre-medicine concentration and minor in biochemistry. He was a member of the Comet wrestling team for four seasons, finishing with a 71-32 record. During the 2013-14 season, Holm had a 30-14 record and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships at 184 pounds. He is a two-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete award recipient.
Off the wrestling mat, Holm is a member of Alpha Phi Upsilon (biology honor society). He was named to the Olivet President’s or Dean’s List every semester, and received the OC Donald A. Morris award for having one of the top five GPAs in this year’s senior class. Holm plans to enroll at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in the fall.
Plourde, who has a 3.89 GPA in sports recreation management, was a four-year letterwinner on the Comet women’s golf team. She is a three-time first-team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection and was selected as the MIAA’s Most Valuable Golfer in 2013. Plourde averaged 77.3 strokes during the fall season, and is averaging 79.0 strokes this spring. Over 92 career rounds, she has a 82.3 stroke average, with a low round of 73 on three occasions.
Off the golf course, Plourde has served as the station manager for WOCR, Olivet’s campus radio station. She has also been named to the President’s or Dean’s Lost every semester, and received the Morris award. Plourde will receive her fourth MIAA Academic Honor Roll award. She currently works as an assistant pro at the Battle Creek Country Club.
