Women’s volleyball team swept by #1 Calvin
The Olivet College volleyball team lost in three sets to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Calvin College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Knights, ranked No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-19.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team lost in three sets to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Knights, ranked No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-19.

- The Knights raced out to an 8-2 lead in the first set. The Comets came back with an 8-3 run to trim their deficit down to a single point. Olivet would not get any closer for the rest of the set.
- In the second set, the Comets jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Five straight points put Calvin ahead for the first time, 6-5. The teams traded points to create five tied scores. After the last one at 10-10, the Knights scored 10 of the next 12 points to go ahead 20-12. Behind the service of junior Rose Kemmerling, the Comets went on a 7-0 run to cut Calvin's lead to a point. Calvin answered with a 3-0 scoring spurt but Olivet responded with its own 3-0 run to keep the difference at one point, 23-22. Two kills ended the set in the Knights' favor.
- Neither team led by more than two points early in the third set. With the Comets holding a 13-11 advantage, Calvin used a 7-1 run to surge ahead, 18-14. Olivet came back with three consecutive points to make the score 18-17. The Knights then ended the set on a 7-2 run.
- Junior Morgan Champion led Olivet with seven kills and .200 attack percentage.
- Junior Brittney Prince was next with five kills to go along with five blocks (one solo and four assisted).
- Junior Madelyn Notenbaum dished out a team-high 15 set assists and recorded a match-high nine digs.
- Junior Gabrielle Mundt finished with seven digs.
- Sarah DeVries led all players with 14 kills, followed by Anna Kamp and Kelsey Smith with 13 apiece.
- Ellie Westrate and DeVries collected 21 and 19 set assists, respectively.
- Three players – Kamp, Grace Kellogg and Keilahna Castillo – each had eight digs.
- With her seven digs, Mundt became only the third Olivet player since 2003 to surpass the 1,000 career dig plateau. The others were Mona Hinamanu (1,636 from 2013-16) and Courtney Cronkright (1,299 from 2014-17). Mundt has 1,003 digs.
- Olivet closes out the season Saturday when it plays a 1 p.m. match at Hope College.
