SATURDAY, AUG. 5 -- written by Gabrielle Mundt and Madelyn Notenbaum
Waking up around 6 o'clock from the bright sun shine Gabi and I are always the first to wake up. We get back to bed and then get woken up by all the girls around 8 a.m. As everyone gets to breakfast for the day we have to be down to the beach by 8:40 a.m. to have our snorkeling day begin!
Although the boat doesn't come until 9 a.m., we climb aboard the boat and the ride begins. The sea lion is the name of the boat if I forgot to tell you all. Although we had to stop multiple times because we didn't get our own boat because I guess we're not a big deal here we picked up 3 families. As we are picking up a family it begins to rain. It's sunny, but yet raining.
The snorkeling instructor, Joey laughs as we say it's raining!!! and his reply was, "it's not rain, it's liquid sunshine." As we finished picking up the whole group we got going. The boat was so cool, the top of it had 4 comfy chairs that: Katie, Claud, Kaylin, Tina and I all laid on while the boat was heading to the destination. The ride was so relaxing, especially being able to see everything from the top.
Did I also say it's Emmalee Yates birthday? Because it is so wish her a happy birthday!!
Getting to the snorkeling drop off we all were given the gear to go out. One by one we jumped in and began to snorkel. It was amazing the coral reefs were so cool I just wanted to swim up and touch the coral.
I personally didn't see it but I remember someone saying they saw a reef shark so that's really cool!! We only had one person in our group that has never swam and that was Jill, but she did it!!!
Tina was so kind and swam with her the whole time she was out there. The funniest moment Tina said that happened was the instructor said, "it's okay the ocean is just baptizing you!" And her response was, "I have already been baptized!" So that was a big highlight of the snorkeling experience!
After snorkeling we got back on the boat and they took us to Iguana island. We got to get off and wander the island and they showed us how to prepare a conch. Breaking it down piece by piece Katie and I were given a piece of the spinal cord. They said it was a salty gummy bear, but it really had no flavor and was not chewy at all. After that, they prepared our meal and we got to relax on the beach or on the boat.
After our meal we took off to another location where we all got to either jump off the top on the diving board or we got to slide down the slide which was on the boat. It was so fun! Most of the whole group went off but some stayed back and took videos or watched as the group went along!
Overall the excursion was so awesome!! It was a great day that we all could bond as a group and enjoy the sunshine!
After getting off the boat we headed back to the house to get ready for practice.
After practice, we all showered and got ready for dinner. While we were on the excursion we asked a couple girls that were there what they recommended for dinner. They recommended a place at a resort called Somewhere. It was on the beach and we saw the sun set so that was really pretty.
Ending the night we went and got ice cream at Madelyn's ice cream shop. It was quite amazing. After ice cream everyone was super tired and we got back to the house and we relaxed for the night in our rooms and went sound asleep!
Another perfect day for Turks and cakes!
