Women’s volleyball team swept by No. 1 Calvin in MIAA-opener

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was swept by defending NCAA Division III national champion Calvin College in three sets in its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener tonight at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets held a 6-5 lead in the first set. Olivet continued to keep the set close until the Knights turned an 11-10 lead into 20-10 advantage with a 9-0 run. The Comets were never able to recover from the deficit.
- Calvin scored the first three points of the second set and never looked back. The Knights led by as many as 15 points twice.
- The third set was the same as the second, as Calvin had the lead from start-to-finish.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Courtney Cronkright led Olivet with six kills and six digs.
- Sophomore Brittney Prince and freshman Sarah Thompson each had three kills.
- Sophomore Madelyn Notenbaum recorded 12 set assists.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Anna Kamp slammed down 17 of the 39 Calvin kills.
- Ally Fea finished with seven kills.
- Jenna Lodewyk posted a double-double with 32 set assists and team-best 10 digs.
