Notenbaum’s triple double propels volleyball team over Kalamazoo in four sets
Freshman Madelyn Notenbaum recorded a triple double to lead the Olivet College volleyball team to a four-set win over Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match tonight at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Freshman Madelyn Notenbaum recorded a triple double to lead the Olivet College volleyball team to a four-set win over Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match tonight at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets never trailed in the first set. With the score 13-10, senior Mona Hinamanu stepped to the service line and helped Olivet score 11 straight points to go up 24-10, which was its largest lead of the set.
- Kalamazoo had a seven-point cushion in the second set, 17-10. The Comets then went on an 8-0 run behind Notenbaum's service to take an 18-17 lead. The Hornets answered with a 3-0 run for a 20-18 advantage. Olivet responded with its own 3-0 run for a 21-20 lead. The teams traded points causing 21-21, 22-22 and 23-23 ties. Notenbaum's kill made the score 24-23 and a double block by Notenbaum and freshman Brittney Prince provided the set point.
- Kalamazoo led the third set from start-to-finish.
- In the fourth set, the Hornets led by two points twice, 8-6 and 9-7. Olivet grabbed the lead back with a 5-0 run. With the Comets leading by four, 19-15, the Hornets put six straight points on the scoreboard to go up 21-19. Olivet fought back with four consecutive points to make the score 23-21. A Comet service error made the score 23-22. A kill by Prince and a ball handling error lifted Olivet to the set victory and match win.
FOR THE COMETS
- Notenbaum had a team-best 10 kills to go along with 11 set assists and 17 digs for her triple double.
- Junior Allison Turner was next with nine kills, while Prince had eight kills.
- Senior Danielle Bearden collected 25 set assists.
- Senior Mona Hinamanu led the team with 26 digs.
FOR THE HORNETS
- Paige Johnson finished with a team-leading 10 kills.
- Kaiya Herman-Hilker topped the team with 18 set assists.
- Dana DeVito led all players with 31 digs.
