Volleyball team loses in three sets to No. 1 Calvin
The Olivet College volleyball team lost in three sets to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader and No. 1 ranked Calvin College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team lost in three sets to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader and No. 1 ranked Calvin College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Calvin def. Olivet 25-12, 25-11, 25-22

Records: Calvin 14-0 overall, 8-0 MIAA; Olivet 10-10 overall, 2-6 MIAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, the Comets held a 1-0 lead. The Knights scored the next three points and never looked back.
- Calvin led the second set from start-to-finish.
- The Knights took a 3-1 lead in the third set before Olivet scored three consecutive points to go up 4-3. The teams exchanged points until the Comets seized a three-point advantage, 15-12. Calvin responded with a 5-0 run to take a 17-15 lead. After Olivet scored a point, the Knights used another 5-0 run to gain a 22-16 lead. The Comets did not give up and got as close as two points, 24-22, forcing Calvin to call a timeout. A Knight kill then ended the match.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet slammed down 22 kills in the match.
- Junior Allison Turner led the way with eight kills and had a .148 attack percentage.
- Freshman Madelyn Notenbaum had a solid match, recording six kills to go along with team-highs in set assists (nine) and digs (11).
- Sophomore Erie McClendon and freshman Brittney Prince each had three blocks.
- Senior Danielle Bearden registered eight set assists, while senior Mona Hinamanu had nine digs.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Calvin finished with 39 kills, including a match-high 13 by Laura Danhoff.
- Anna Kamp joined her in double figures with 10 kills. She also collected a team-high eight digs.
- Jenna Lodewyk had 36 set assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Calvin entered the match ranked No. 1 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll.
