Prince and Turner lead volleyball team over Trine in three sets
Freshman Brittany Prince and junior Allison Turner each posted 16 kills to lead the Olivet College volleyball team to a three-set victory over Trine (Ind.) University, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22, this evening at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – Freshman Brittney Prince and junior Allison Turner each posted 16 kills to lead the Olivet College volleyball team to a three-set victory over Trine (Ind.) University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match this evening at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 3-3 tie in the first set, the Comets scored six straight points – two aces by junior Courtney Cronkright and two kills each from Prince and freshman Madelyn Notenbaum – to go up by six points, 9-3. The eight-point margin of victory was the largest lead of the set.
- The Thunder held a 4-3 lead in the second set. Olivet then put the next three points on the scoreboard to take a 6-4 lead. The Comets never trailed for the rest of the set.
- In the third set, Trine had a four point advantage, 10-6. Olivet battled back to tie the set at 14-14 and 15-15 before taking a 19-15 lead. The Thunder scored four consecutive points to create a 19-19 deadlock. The Comets answered with two straight points for a 21-19 lead. Trine responded with a 3-0 run to go up 22-21. Olivet ended the set on a 4-0 run to win the set and match.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet finished the match with 53 kills, 23 errors on 128 attacks for a .234 hitting percentage.
- Turner hit at a .522 clip, as she had 16 kills with four errors on 23 attacks.
- Prince had a .294 attack percentage.
- Freshman Morgan Champion joined them in double figures with 10 kills.
- Senior Danielle Bearden dished out a match-high 44 set assists.
- Senior Mona Hinamanu led all players with 15 digs.
FOR THE THUNDER
- Shannon Scott recorded a team-high seven kills.
- Samantha Ihrie had a team-best 18 set assists.
- Rhylee Beshears registered a team-leading 13 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Tonight's win for the Comets snapped a four-match losing streak against Trine.
- The last time Olivet swept the Thunder in three sets was Nov. 1, 2004.
