Volleyball team swept by #2 Calvin
The Olivet College volleyball team was swept in three sets by MIAA leader Calvin College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Knights, ranked No. 2 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won by scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-18.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was swept in three sets by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Knights, ranked No. 2 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won by scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-18.
As a team the Comets had a .127 hitting percentage. Sophomore Emma Brann (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) and junior Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) topped the front row with seven kills apiece. Freshman Lydia Drikakis (Battle Creek/Lakeview) was next with six kills. Sophomore setter Taylor Pringle (Haslett) recorded 20 assists. Junior Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) led the back row with 10 digs.
Olivet is now off until next Tuesday, Oct. 16, when it hosts Hope College at 6:30 p.m. As part of the match, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is sponsoring a "Jam the Gym" night. Fans are encouraged to wear red, and the first 200 students will receive a T-shirt or rally towel.
