Volleyball team swept by Alma in home and MIAA opener
The Olivet College volleyball team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a three-set loss to Alma College Friday night inside The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Scots beat the Comets by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a three-set loss to Alma College Friday night inside The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The Scots beat the Comets by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17.
Offensively for Olivet, sophomore Emma Brann (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) pounded down a team-leading nine kills. Junior Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) was next with seven kills. Three other attackers – junior Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) and freshmen Lydia Drikakis (Battle Creek/Lakeview) and Marissa Guile (Williamston) – each recorded six kills.
Defensively, sophomore Taylor Pringle (Haslett) topped the team with eight digs. She also dished out a team-high 31 set assists.
The Comets return to action Saturday afternoon when they travel to play Calvin College at 1 p.m.
