Volleyball team loses two matches at Kalamazoo Hornet Invitational
The Olivet College volleyball team lost a pair of matches today at the Kalamazoo College Hornet Invitational. In their first match, the Comets fell to Trine (Ind.) University in five-set thriller, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 25-23, 16-14. Against Franklin (Ind.) College, Olivet dropped a three-set match, 25-13, 25-23, 25-17.

Against Trine, senior Mackenzie Heator (Union City), sophomore Ellen Schulz (Freeland) and junior Krystal Heeres (Flushing) all recorded double digit kills with 12, 11 and 10, respectively. Sophomore Jenessa Hicks (Union City) contributed 26 set assists. Freshman Mallory Schug (Climax/Galesburg Augusta) finished with 13 set assists. Senior Lindsey Tarrant (Metamora/Oxford) led the defensive effort with 24 digs, while senior Ashley Adams (Brighton/Hartland) was next with 20.
Against Franklin, Schulz had seven kills. Hicks was the leader in set assists with 11. Tarrant added 15 digs.
Olivet is now set to begin Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play Wednesday, Sept. 3, when it travels to play Alma College at 6:30 p.m.
