Volleyball team lets match slip away at Kalamazoo
The Olivet College volleyball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Kalamazoo College in five sets tonight at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo. After dropping the first set, 25-23, the Comets bounced back to win the second (25-20) and third (25-23) sets. Kalamazoo rallied to win the final two sets, 25-21 and 15-12.

Olivet's front row was led by senior Lindsey Tarrant (Metamora/Oxford) with 16 kills. Freshman Whitney Reitz (Hillsdale) and sophomore Ellen Schulz (Freeland) joined Tarrant in double digits in kills with 10 a piece. At the service line, senior Courtney Lewis (Battle Creek/St. Philip) had four service aces.
Sophomore Jenessa Hicks (Union City) tallied a team-leading 36 set assists. Freshman Mallory Schug (Climax/Galesburg Augusta) topped the defense with 28 digs, followed by Tarrant and Hicks with 24 and 17, respectively.
The Comets will take the weekend off and be back in action next Tuesday, Sept. 23 when they host Calvin College. The match from The Cutler Event Center gets under way at 6:30 p.m.
