Three student-athletes earn All-MIAA soccer honors
Three Olivet College players have been named to the 2005 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) soccer teams. In addition, freshman volleyball player Sydney Kuipers (Charlotte) earned coaches’ honorable mention honors.
Three Olivet College players have been named to the 2005 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) soccer teams. Sophomore forward Shannah Fisher (Delton-Kellogg) and junior defender Stacey Stickney (St. Joseph) have earned All-MIAA second-team honors in women's soccer, while junior defender Corey Evans (Mason) is a second-team All-MIAA selection in men's soccer.
Fisher led the Comets in scoring with 21 points (nine goals and three assists) and tallied three game-winning goals. Stickney, a three-time All-MIAA selection, was third on the team with eight points (three goals and two assists). Evans tallied nine points (four goals and one assist) for Olivet.
Bre Bath-Simonsen (Mason), Kevin Hagan (East Lansing), Alan Holdorf (Novi), Ann Marie Keisic (Sterling Heights/Warren Cousino), Natalie Lopez (Holland/West Ottawa), Alex Lundy (Kewadin/Elk Rapids) and Kellie O'Dowd (Jackson) received coaches' honorable mention honors.
The women finished with an 8-10-1 overall record and were sixth in the MIAA with a 7-8-1 mark. The men had an 8-11-1 overall record and finished fourth in the MIAA with a 7-6-1 mark.
In addition, freshman volleyball player Sydney Kuipers (Charlotte) earned coaches' honorable mention honors. She recorded a team-high 334 kills along with 31 service aces, 264 digs and 60 blocks.
