Volleyball team defeated by Hope in four games
The Olivet College volleyball team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Hope College 30-24, 31-33, 30-21, 30-24, tonight at the Upton Center in Olivet.

The Comets (4-16, 3-8 MIAA) were led by freshman Sydney Kuipers (Charlotte), who had 15 kills. Senior Katie Schaum (Marshall) was next with seven kills, followed by sophomore Katie Fiero (Jackson) and freshman Theresa Martin (Charlevoix) with six each.
Sophomore Jessica Petkus (Milford) posted team-high honors in set assists (37) and digs (18). Kuipers had 16 digs while Schaum, freshman Courtney Lewis (Battle Creek/St. Phillip) and sophomore Meghan Smith (Rochester Hills/Adams) finished with 11 apiece.
Olivet travels to participate in the Franklin (Ind.) Quad Saturday, Oct. 15. The Comets will play Maranatha Baptist Bible (Wisc.) College at 1 p.m. CT and the host Grizzlies at 3 p.m. CT.
