Schaum named to All-MIAA volleyball second-team
Olivet College junior outside hitter Katie Schaum (Marshall High School) has been named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) volleyball second-team. In addition, freshman setter Jessica Petkus (Milford High School) earned coaches’ honorable mention honors.

Schaum led the Lady Comets (9-24, 3-13 MIAA) with 368 kills and 67 service aces. She was second with 375 digs. Schaum had 15 matches with double-digit kills and digs, including a 21 kills and 22 digs performance in a four-game win against MIAA foe Saint Mary's College Oct. 26. She had a single-match high 23 kills against Tri-State (Ind.) University Oct. 9.
Petkus topped the team with 982 set assists and 383 digs. Her single-match highs were 53 set assists and 24 digs against Saint Mary's Oct. 26.
