The Olivet College volleyball team snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 30-18, 24-30, 25-30, 30-27, 15-11 win tonight at non-conference foe Rochester College.
The Olivet College volleyball team snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 30-18, 24-30, 25-30, 30-27, 15-11 win tonight at non-conference foe Rochester College.
The Lady Comets defeated the Warriors by virtue of a solid front row attack led by senior middle hitter Erin Graham (Alpena High School), who had 13 kills and a .414 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Jamie Hutchison (Freeland High School) had 11 kills with a .333 hitting percentage and sophomore outside hitter Staci Hawley (Sparta/Kent City High School) hit .368 with eight kills.
At the service line, Hutchison and freshmen Kara Brinker (North Branch High School) and Shannon Hall (Taylor Truman High School) all had three aces. Freshman Sarah Geasler (Laingsburg High School) topped the team with 25 set assists. Defensively, freshman defensive specialist Julia Longman (Scotts/Climax-Scotts High School) led the defense with eight digs.
The Lady Comets (3-9) are next in action on Thursday, Sept. 25 when they resume Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Kalamazoo College at 7 p.m.
