GENEVA, Ohio – Lillian Albaugh capped her first year at Olivet College with an 11th-place finish in the shot put at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Albaugh was in the first of two flights, with 11 student-athletes competing in each flight. After the first attempts in the opening flight, she had the top mark at 42 feet, 9 inches. Albaugh did not improve her mark in her second attempt but still sat second. In her third attempt, Albaugh had a 43 feet, 5-1/4 inch toss to finish third in her flight. Eight athletes in the second flight had a better mark to give her an overall 11th-place finish.
"Lillian performed well this year as a freshman," said Olivet Head Coach Karen Lutzke. "She won the MIAA indoor and outdoor title, and qualified for NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor National Championships in the shot put. Lillian loves to compete and is not intimated when competing on the big stage. She has made progress this year and we are expecting even bigger things over the next three years from Lillian."
