Track and field teams stand in fourth-place after day one of MIAA Field Day
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track and field teams stand in fourth-place after day one of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day at the Gordon Brewer Track in Holland. The Comet men have 17 points, and the Olivet women are tied for fourth with 21 points.

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track and field teams stand in fourth-place after day one of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day at the Gordon Brewer Track in Holland. The Comet men have 17 points, and the Olivet women are tied for fourth with 21 points.
- Freshman Lillian Albaugh captured the MIAA title in the shot put with a school-record throw of 44 feet, 3-1/4 inches.
- Sophomore Ariel Floyd won the MIAA title in the hammer throw with a 159 feet, 1 inch toss. She also scored eighth-place points in the shot put (37 feet, 11-1/4 inches).
- Sophomore Jacob Smith took second-place in the shot put with a 48 feet, 9 inch throw.
- Junior Noah Bailey leaped to a third-place finish in the long jump with a 22 feet, 7-1/4 inch mark.
- Junior Kory Slaby was sixth in the hammer throw with a 142 feet, 6 inch heave.
- In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Chris Womack posted the second-fastest preliminary time at 57.30 seconds.
- Freshman Kyle McDowell and sophomore Tyler Peck both won their heat to qualify for tomorrow's finals in the 400-meter dash. McDowell had the second-fastest preliminary time at 50.84 seconds, and Peck was fourth-quickest at 51.51 seconds.
- Day two action at the MIAA Field Day get started with field events at 10 a.m., and running event finals beginning at 1:30 p.m.
