FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Ariel Floyd has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. She is earning the honor for the second time this season.
At the Michigan State University Spartan Invitational, Floyd finished in 11th-place in both the hammer and discus throws. According to TFRRS.com, her throw of 133 feet and 4 inches in the hammer was a season-best and ranks second in the MIAA this season. Floyd's toss in the discus covered 113 feet and 5 inches.
"Ariel had a busy weekend competing in three throwing events and a relay while setting a personal best in the hammer throw in unfavorable conditions," said head coach Karen Lutzke. "She continues to improve each week and we appreciate she is willing to help out the team in multiple ways."
Olivet hosts Albion, Alma and Aquinas colleges for a quad meet on Friday.
