Track & field teams compete at MSU Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams participated in the 2018 Michigan State University Spartan Invitational in East Lansing. The meet featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools from across the state of Michigan.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams participated in the 2018 Michigan State University Spartan Invitational in East Lansing. The meet featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools from across the state of Michigan.
FOR THE MEN
- Noah Bailey finished sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 51.59 seconds.
- Bruce Baker placed 15th of 53 runners in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:09.26.
- Tyler Chavalia was the runner-up finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.31 seconds. Senior Walter Love III placed fourth at 11.64 seconds.
- Dewan Hawthorne posted the second-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles at 56.82 seconds.
- Chris Womack won the second heat to place fourth overall in the 200-meter dash at 24.65 seconds.
- The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Hawthorne, Chavalia, Robert Barnett and Bailey crossed the line second with a time of 3:30.64.
- Sophomore Jaylin Alexander finished sixth in the long jump (5.97m). On the track, he was fifth in the 200-meter dash at 24.74 seconds.
- Freshman Jacob Smith was eighth in the shot put (13.40m).
FOR THE WOMEN
- Jessica Taylor had the sixth-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:23.25.
- Samantha Torres was ninth in the 200-meter dash at 29.10 seconds.
- Ariel Floyd placed 11th in both the hammer and discus throws. Her mark of 40.64m in the hammer ranks third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association this spring. Floyd had a toss of 34.58m in the discus.
