Floyd named MIAA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Olivet College freshman Ariel Floyd has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Ariel Floyd has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
At the Rhodes (Tenn.) College Invitational, Floyd placed ninth in the discus throw with a throw of 126 feet and 8 inches. She also had marks of 122 feet and 11 inches in the hammer and 35 feet and 5-3/4 inches in the shot put. According to TFRRS.com, the performances in the discus and hammer rank No. 1 in the MIAA this season, and shot put mark is No. 2 in the MIAA.
"We are excited Ariel has earned MIAA Athlete of the Week honors," said Olivet head track and field coach Karen Lutzke. "Her hard work is paying off, as she has been making huge improvements the past month. We are looking forward to seeing how well she does for the rest of her freshman season."
Olivet next competes Thursday, March 29, at the Indiana Wesleyan University Easter Twilight Meet.
