Women’s tennis team opens season with 6-3 loss against Defiance
The Olivet College women’s tennis team opened the 2018-19 season with a 6-3 loss against Defiance (Ohio) College this afternoon at the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College women's tennis team opened the 2018-19 season with a 6-3 loss against Defiance (Ohio) College this afternoon at the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek.
Final Score: Defiance 6, Olivet 3

Records: Olivet 0-1 overall, Defiance 0-1 overall
- The match was scheduled to be played outdoors at the Harper Creek High School Tennis Complex. Prior to the match, a rain shower dampened the courts enough to make them unplayable. The coaches agreed to play the match indoors at the Minges Creek Athletic Club. Due to available court time, all of the flights were just one set.
- The Yellow Jackets won 2-of-3 doubles flights and 4-of-6 singles flights to claim the 7-2 season-opening victory.
- Freshman Emily Foulk and sophomore Taylor Robbins picked-up a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
- Foulk did not lose any games for an easy 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
- Junior Sydnie Weller cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles.
- Olivet is on the road Friday to play Goshen (Ind.) College. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
