Swimming & diving: Comets beaten by Calvin
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams fell to Calvin College today inside the Upton Center Pool in Olivet. The men’s team lost 128-38, while the women’s team lost 116-61.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams fell to Calvin College today inside the Upton Center Pool in Olivet. The men's team lost 128-38, while the women's team lost 116-61.
The women's team was led by senior Jazmin Johnson who won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle. She won the 100 by almost two full seconds at 55.08 seconds and took first in the 200 by almost three and one-half seconds at 2:00.58. Both times were also season-bests for Johnson.
The dual was also the final home meet for senior Shana Bush, who is graduating in December. She scored second-place points with a season-best time of 2:27.37 in the 200-yard backstroke.
For the men, sophomore Derek Beslock and junior Taylor Howard posted season-best times.Beslock was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.91 seconds, while Howard was second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:17.73. Sophomore Trey Jennings competed in the 400-yard individual medley for the first time this season and was second in 4:37.85.
Olivet is off until Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6, when it makes the trip to Wisconsin to compete at the Carthage College Winter Classic.
