The Comets recorded seven first-place and seven second-place finishes. Leading the way was Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison), who won two individual events and swam the anchor leg of a winning relay. She took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (:26.36) and 100-yard freestyle (:57.41). Redder along with Lisa Egelkraut (Battle Creek/Central), Sarah Boyd (Napoleon, Ohio) and Jami Lingbeek (Plainwell) swam to a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:54.84).
Egelkraut touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:33.46) and second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.70). Her time in the 1,000 was a season-best performance. Heather Michalsen (Plymouth/Salem) placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:26.64) and second in the 400-yard individual medley (5:08.45). Jackie Taylor (Plainwell) clocked-in first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:20.41) and second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.55). In addition, the 400-yard medley team of Taylor, Erin Tramper (Jenison), Lingbeek and Kelly Schulze (Kalamazoo/Central) placed first (4:19.03).
Boyd was just over one second behind Egelkraut in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:34.77). Sara Griffith (Brighton) was second on both diving boards, scoring 225.35 points on the one-meter and 209.80 points on the three-meter. Erin Tramper (Jenison) finished in second-place in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.12).
Olivet will close out the dual meet portion of its 2007-08 schedule next Saturday, Feb. 2, when Hope College visits the Upton Center Pool for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
