Women’s soccer team loses 2-0 to Calvin in MIAA-opener
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s soccer team fell to Calvin University, 2-0, in its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team fell to Calvin University, 2-0, in its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- Olivet had a couple great chances to score a goal in the first nine minutes of the game. The best of those opportunities came in the ninth minute when a shot by sophomore Elisabeth Perez Pablo went just wide left of the goal.
- The Knights got on the scoreboard at the 11:04 mark when Sophie Mueller found the back of the net.
- Senior Mary Mitchell's shot in the 31st minute was saved by the keeper.
- The score stayed 1-0 at halftime.
- Calvin netted its second goal when Lindsey Houtsma scored in the fifth minute of the second half.
- Olivet tallied just four shots, all in the first half.
- Mitchell recorded two shots, placing one on-frame.
- The other two shots were by Perez Pablo and freshman Jennie Underwood.
- Sophomore Jordan Hartman made eight saves, while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
- Mueller finished with six of the 25 Calvin shots.
- Houtsma was next with five shots.
- Kalex Dodge earned the shutout win in goal. She recorded saves on two of the four shots she faced.
- Olivet travels to play Adrian College Saturday at 12 p.m.
