Bio

Bill Maas is in his 22nd season as the The University of Olivet head women’s golf coach in 2023-24. He also serves as the head men's golf coach.

Maas has built Olivet into the top women’s golf program in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Under his leadership, the Comets have finished either first or second in the league standings in all except four seasons since 2004-05. Overall, Olivet has won MIAA championships (2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013) during his tenure. Seventeen (17) of his golfers have combined to earn 53 All-MIAA awards, including four -- Kristy Latimer, Lauren Campbell, Theresa Damico and Adrienne Plourde -- who were the MIAA's Most Valuable Golfer. In addition, eight golfers combined to earn 14 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Region citations, with four also being selected as WGCA All-Americans. 

Maas guided the Comets to seven appearances, including five straight, at the NCAA Division III Championships from 2007-11. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the Comets received an at-large bid after finishing second in the MIAA spring qualifier. The other four times, Olivet received the league's automatic bid.

At the championships, Olivet was eighth in 2007, 11th in 2008, tied for 11th in 2009, 11th in 2010, tied for 10th in 2011, 13th in 2013 and 11th in 2014. Maas’ teams have also excelled in the class room. The Comets have earned the MIAA Team GPA award 17 times, including the past 14 years and . In addition, 28 golfers have combined to earn 75 WGCA Scholar All-American awards. Two golfers, Lindsay Pipkin and Adrienne Plourde, were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

Maas is a 1989 graduate of Olivet. He resides in Olivet with wife, Amy. He is the assistant fire chief for the city of Olivet.
