Women’s basketball team ends season with 70-54 loss to Saint Mary’s
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s basketball team closed the curtain on the 2019-20 season with a 70-54 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College this afternoon at the Upton Center Gymnasium.

- Twice in the first quarter, the Comets led by five points. After the last time at 12-7, the Belles scored the final 10 points of the period to gain their own five-point cushion, 17-12. Saint Mary's extended its advantage to 12 points late in the second quarter. A free throw by junior DeeDee Post made the score 36-25 at the break.
- To start the third quarter, Olivet used a 15-2 run to take the lead back, 40-38. The run started with back-to-back three-pointers by freshman Hannah Brown and ended with seven straight points, including three consecutive made layups, by senior Jazmin Hildebrand.
- The Belles tied the game before a three-pointer by senior Amari Brown put Olivet ahead 43-40 at the 3:59 mark. Saint Mary's took the lead back with a jump shot and two free throws. Freshman Zara Weber sank a three-pointer gave the advantage to the Comets, 46-44. Seven straight points for the Belles made the score 51-46 with 1:55 remaining in the quarter. The teams traded points to create another five-point margin, 53-48, to start the final quarter.
- Saint Mary's out-scored Olivet, 17-6, in the fourth quarter for the final 16-point separation.
- Playing her final collegiate basketball game, Hildebrand had her best game of the season. She shared game-high honors with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with two blocks and four steals.
- Hannah Brown joined her in double digits with 17 points, including five baskets from behind the three-point arc.
- Post grabbed a team-best six rebounds.
- Four starters scored in double diguts.
- Giavanna Paradiso posted a double-double, 19 points and 12 rebounds.
- Bella Dugas added 15 points, followed by Maddie Rzepka (13) and Jade Mosier (10).
- Prior to the game, the Comets recognized their four seniors – Amari Brown, Jazmin Hildebrand, Tammy Lee and Megan Sysko – who played in their last collegiate basketball game. All four started the game.
- Amari Brown had 285 points and 264 rebounds in 81 games.
- Hildebrand finishes her two years in an Olivet basketball uniform with 319 points and 237 rebounds.
- Lee finished her two-year career in a Comet uniform with 336 points, 153 rebounds, 123 assists and 65 steals.
