Women’s basketball team drops 80-63 decision to Alma

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team was on the losing end of an 80-63 score to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Alma College tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first six of the game, neither team led by more than four points and there were two tied scores. After the last tie at 9-9, the Scots scored eight straight points for a 17-8 lead. The Comets fought back and trailed by three points, 19-16, before an Alma three-pointer at the end of the quarter made the score 22-16.
- The Scots stretched their lead to as many as 12 points, 33-21, at the midpoint of the second quarter. Olivet battled back and trimmed its deficit in half, 37-31, at the 1:17 mark. Alma made the last basket of the period to lead by eight points, 39-31, at halftime.
- The Scots out-scored the Comets, 23-16, in the third quarter to gain their largest lead of the game, 62-47. The closest Olivet would get in the fourth quarter was 10 points, 69-59, with 4:15 left.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Sydnee Dennis scored a team-high 15 points, with five baskets from behind the arc. She also grabbed a team-leading six rebounds.
- Freshman Grace Clark contributed 13 points.
- Junior Shawnee Dame added 11 points.
FOR THE SCOTS
- Madeline Barnauskas came off the bench to lead all players with 22 points.
- Charley Hengesbach finished with 16 points.
- Jeny Brandy chipped-in 12 points.
- Chloee King registered 11 points and dished out eight assists.
