Records fall in women’s basketball team’s 104-57 win over Grace Bible
Four single-game team records were broken, as the Olivet College women’s basketball team stepped out of conference play for the day and defeated Grace Bible College, 104-57 at the Aldrich Athletic Center in Grand Rapids. The Comets set single-game benchmarks for points (104), field goals attempted (83), three-pointers made (17) and three-pointers attempted (44).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets raced out to a 29-8 lead after one quarter before stretching their advantage to 60-23 at halftime.
- Olivet out-scored the Tigers by three in the third quarter, 23-20, to make the score 83-43 at the end of three periods.
- The Comets had +7 point differential in the fourth quarter to create the final tally, 104-57.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the game, Olivet made 41 baskets, including 17 from behind the three-point arc, compared to 22 baskets and six triples for the Tigers. The Comets also out-rebounded Grace Bible, 49-38, and had a 25-13 edge in assists and turned the ball over 13 less times, 12 to 25.
- Freshman Sydnee Dennis came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the arc.
- Freshman Bridget Garter chipped in 18 points, while seniors Kadesha Taylor and Stephanie Cochran finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
- Sophomore Brittany McDuffie posted a game-best seven assists and four steals.
- Sophomore Amari Brown had four helpers.
- Junior Taylor Jungel grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
FOR THE TIGERS
- Brianna Lovegrove and Jewel Ro each scored 12 points.
- Ashley Glass added 11 points.
- Lovegrove also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Prior to today's 104-point outburst, the last time Olivet surpassed the century mark in the scoring column was 102 points against Trine University on Feb. 18, 2004.
- The 47-point margin of victory is the eighth-largest in school history.
- The 60 points scored in the first half is the most in a half in school history since the NCAA adopted the four quarters format in 2015-16.
- The previous highs for three-pointers made was 14 on three occasions, with the last time being vs. Trine on Feb. 9, 2008; three-pointers attempted was 36 vs. Alma College on Jan. 14, 2006 and field goals attempted was 79 vs. Keystone (Pa.) College on Nov. 19, 20015. The Comets were one field goal made shy of tying the single-game record.
- Dennis' seven triples are tied for the second-most in a game.
UP NEXT
- Olivet resumes Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play next Wednesday, Dec. 13, when it hosts Albion College at 7:30 p.m. The game is also the home-opener for the Comets, as their first five games have been away from the confines of The Cutler Event Center.
