OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's basketball team lost to Defiance (Ohio) College, 93-57, tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The YellowJackets scored the first seven points of the game and eventually led twice by 11 points, 13-2 and 18-7, in the opening quarter. The Comets trailed by eight points, 22-14, after one period.
- Defiance extended its lead to 23 points, 41-18, with 3:54 remaining in the second stanza. Olivet cut its deficit down to 19 points, 45-26, at halftime.
- In the third quarter, the YellowJackets' lead grew to as many as 37 points on two occasions, with the last time being 68-31, at the 2:35 mark.
- The Comets put the final four points on the scoreboard in the third period to make the score 72-39.
- The teams traded baskets to start the fourth quarter, as Olivet would draw no closer than 33 points for the rest of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet shot 32.4 percent (22-of-68) from the floor compared to 50.0 percent (38-of-76) for Defiance.
- Senior T'Keyia Collins was the lone player in double figures with 10 points.
- Seniors Leeza Fortner and Jillian Nickels had nine points apiece.
- Nickels also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
- Junior Ayren Parrish scored six points and dished out five assists, while not committing a turnover in 32 minutes.
FOR THE YELLOWJACKETS
- Four players scored in double digits.
- Kelsey Tietje posted a double-double, 20 points and 11 rebounds, to lead all players.
- Sam Ervin was a spark off the bench with 19 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the floor and 5-of-7 shooting from the free throw line.
- Mekai White and Keri Conine contributed 17 and 14 points, respectively.
