The Olivet College women's basketball team suffered a 77-52 loss against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College tonight at Kresge Gymnasium in Albion.
The Olivet College women's basketball team suffered a 77-52 loss against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College tonight at Kresge Gymnasium in Albion.
The Britons (19-4, 9-3 MIAA) started the game with a 12-0 run, and never looked back. The Lady Comets (8-14, 2-10 MIAA) closed to within 11 points, 30-19. Albion outscored Olivet, 10-2, in the last 4:03 to take a 40-21 lead at halftime. The Britons extended their lead to as many as 30 points at the 8:38 mark of the second half.
Junior guard Emily Fix (New Buffalo/Comstock Park High School) was the lone Comet in double figures with 10 points, followed by sophomore center Courtney Ivan (Belleville High School) and junior forward Tonya Dawson (Marshall High School) with eight and seven points, respectively. Ivan grabbed a team-best four rebounds.
Ruthie Sventickas led the Britons with 14 points. Vanessa Thompson added 12 points and Jamie Fornetti had 11. Liz Marcuz came off the bench to pull down a game-high six rebounds.
Olivet end its four-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 14, when it plays Calvin College. Tip-off from the Calvin Fieldhouse is 3 p.m.
