OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team suffered an 11-1and 8-0 loss to Adrian College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College softball team suffered an 11-1and 8-0 loss to Adrian College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- The Bulldogs scored four runs in both the first and second innings before adding three runs in the fifth for an 11-0 lead.
- The Comets used a two-out rally to push across their lone run in the bottom half of the fifth. Freshman Violet Porter hit a double and came around to score on freshman Corina Hernandez's single.
- Olivet tallied three hits in the game – the two in the fifth inning and a single by senior Jessica Barnes in the second inning. Barnes was charged with the pitching loss, as she allowed all 11 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and five walks.
- For Adrian, Maggie Leveille was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Meghan Lupu also had two hits and scored two runs. Karson Bagelmann walked three times and scored two runs. Abbi Patton earned the win in the circle.
- Adrian plated two runs in the first, two runs in the second and three runs in the third. The Bulldogs capped their scoring with a run in the sixth to post the run-rule victory.
- Hernandez recorded Olivet's only hit, a single in the third inning. She was the only Comet to reach base safely. Sophomore Malaya Shireman was the losing pitcher. She threw the first four innings and gave up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits. Freshman Madison Milot pitched an inning and one-third inning of relief.
- For the Bulldogs, Maggie Leveille was 3-for-4. Bagelmann scored three runs. Paige Stein collected three RBI. Macee Schang picked-up the pitching win. She threw the complete game, one-hitter and struck out 10 batters.
- Olivet faces Hope College next Wednesday, April 19, for a MIAA doubleheader, starting at 3 p.m. from the Cutler Athletic Complex.
