Boyle’s pitching performances help softball team win twice at The Spring Games
Junior Gracie Boyle won both games in the circle to lead the Olivet College softball team to a pair of wins at The Spring Games this morning at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex in Kissimmee, Florida. The Comets beat College of Mount St. Vincent (N.Y.), 9-0. in six innings before defeating Juniata (Pa.) College, 4-1.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Junior Gracie Boyle won both games in the circle to lead the Olivet College softball team to a pair of wins at The Spring Games this morning at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex in Kissimmee, Florida. The Comets beat College of Mount St. Vincent (N.Y.), 9-0. in six innings before defeating Juniata (Pa.) College, 4-1.

- The Comets scored twice in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
- Olivet capped the scoring with a three-run sixth inning to end the game early due to the eight-run mercy rule.
- Boyle threw all six innings, while scattering five hits, walking one and striking out one.
- At the plate, Olivet collected 13 hits.
- Senior Danielle McCoy went 4-for-4 with three RBI.
- Boyle helped her own cause with a pair of hits, including a two-run double.
- Junior Taylor Shellenberger hit two doubles, drove in two runs and scored two runs.
- Senior Kinslea Blouin also had two hits.
- Junior Jazmin Hildebrand walked twice and scored twice.
- Sophomore Erin Scanlon was 2-for-3 with two singles.
- Five players each had one base hit.
- Hannah Thompson was the losing pitcher after allowing the first six runs on nine hits over four and one-third innings.

- The Eagles took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the top half of the second inning.
- The Comets evened the score with a run in their half of the second.
- Olivet grabbed the lead in the third inning when Blouin hit a double and came around to score on freshman Kaylee Clothier's single down the left field line.
- The Comets added two insurance runs in the fifth inning.
- Shellenberger started in the circle, and yielded the only run on three hits over the three and one-third innings.
- Boyle picked-up the pitching win in relief. She gave up two hits over the final three and two-thirds innings.
- Olivet recorded 10 hits, including a 3-for-3 performance by Shellenberger.
- Boyle had two more hits as well as one RBI and one run.
- Freshman Danielle Erickson collected two hits, including a double.
- Abby Ebright had two of the five Juniata hits.
- Erin Pfeffer was credited with the pitching loss after surrendering four runs (two earned) on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings.
- The Comets wrap-up play in the Sunshine State tomorrow with a 9:30 a.m. game against in-state rival Finlandia University and 2:30 p.m. game against Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College.
