Softball team goes .500 in Sunday games in Florida
The Olivet College softball team went .500 in its second day of games at The Spring Games inside the Minneola Athletic Complex in Minneola, Florida. The Comets fell to Keene State (N.H.) College, 6-3, before bouncing back to defeat Salve Regina (R.I.) University, 10-1, in five innings.

MINNEOLA, Fla. – The Olivet College softball team went .500 in its second day of games at The Spring Games inside the Minneola Athletic Complex in Minneola, Florida. The Comets fell to Keene State (N.H.) College, 6-3, before bouncing back to defeat Salve Regina (R.I.) University, 10-1, in five innings.

- The Comets scored three runs on four hits in the third inning.
- The Owls tied the game with a single run in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth inning.
- Keene State plated three unearned runs in the sixth inning to earn the come-from-behind victory.
- Despite the loss, Olivet finished the game with 13 hits. All except one starter had at least one hit.
- Senior Kinslea Blouin went 3-for-4 with three singles, one run and one RBI.
- Senior Andrea Rico had two doubles and an RBI.
- Freshman Kaylee Clothier and sophomore Kayla Blett each tallied a pair of hits.
- Junior Taylor Shellenberger started in the circle but did not factor in the decision. She gave up three runs on nine hits over four and one-third innings.
- Freshman Danielle Erickson was charged with the pitching loss after allowing the three runs in the seventh inning.
- Brooke Arruda, Kylie Frank and Molly St. Germain each collected two hits.
- Arruda drove in two runs and scored twice.
- St. Germain went the distance in the circle to pick-up the pitching win.

- The Seahawks took a 1-0 lead on a home run by Nikki Vanelli in the top half of the first inning.
- The Comets used a two-out rally to push across five runs in the bottom half of the first. Run-scoring hits were by junior Jazmin Hildebrand, Erickson and junior Gracie Boyle.
- Olivet scored its final five runs in the second inning. The big hits in the inning were a two-run home run by Blouin and two-run double by Erickson.
- Salve Regina failed to score any more runs, causing the game to end early due to the eight-run mercy rule.
- Boyle threw a complete game, six-hitter to earn the pitching win. She walked nobody and struck out two.
- Olivet finished the game with 12 hits.
- Blouin was 3-for-3 with a single, double and home run.
- Erickson hit a pair of two-run doubles.
- Clothier had two hits and scored twice.
- Hildebrand recorded two hits.
- Boyle helped her cause with two RBI.
- Vanelli registered two hits.
- Sam Farrell also had two hits.
- Julia Coute lasted only one inning to be charged with the pitching loss. She gave up nine runs on eight hits.
- Courtney Latta tossed the final three innings in relief, allowing a run on four hits.
- Olivet is off tomorrow and resumes play Tuesday morning at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex against Newbury (Mass.) College at 9:45 a.m., and Wisconsin Lutheran College at noon.
