Softball team swept by Tri-State, 7-1 and 8-0
The Olivet College softball team was swept in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader today at Tri-State (Ind.) University in Angola, Ind. The Thunder won by scores of 7-1 and 8-0.

The Olivet College softball team was swept in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader today at Tri-State (Ind.) University in Angola, Ind. The Thunder won by scores of 7-1 and 8-0.
In the first game, Tri-State built a commanding 7-0 lead through six innings. Olivet scored its run in the seventh. Three consecutive singles loaded the bases. The next Comet batter hit into a double play with a force out at home and move junior Kacie Rosecrants (Parma/Western) to third base and freshman Courtney Praski (New Lothrop) to second base. Before the final out was recorded, Olivet executed a double steal, scoring Rosecrants.
For the game, the Comets were held to those three hits in the seventh inning. In the circle, freshman Katie Harper (Vassar) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on 16 hits over six innings of work.
In the nightcap, the Olivet offense was never able to get on track, as the Thunder scored one run in the first, three more runs in the third and four runs in the fifth. The Comets' had only two base runners in the game. Junior Kacey Darling (Hartford) reached on an infield single in the fourth and Praski walked in the fifth. Junior Beth DeLora (Muskegon/Oakridge) was the losing pitcher, giving up eight runs on 11 hits.
Olivet is back in action Monday afternoon when it travels to play Hope College. First pitch for game one of the doubleheader at Wolters Stadium is 3:30 p.m.
