Men’s volleyball loses in three sets at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Olivet College men's volleyball team fell to Fontbonne (Mo.) University in three sets in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) match this afternoon at the Mabee Gymnasium.
Final Score: Fontbonne def. Olivet 25-13, 25-21, 25-17

Records: Olivet 1-13 overall, 0-3 MCVL; Fontbonne 5-11 overall, 3-1 MCVL
- The Griffins led the first set from start-to-finish.
- After Olivet scored the first point in the second set, Fontbonne went on a 5-0 run. The Griffins did not trail for the rest of the set.
- In the third set, Fontbonne used a 4-0 scoring spurt to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead. The Comets closed the gap to two points on four occasions. After the last time at 8-6, the Griffins took control of the set with a 3-0 run.
- Olivet totaled 24 kills in the match.
- Senior Brock Pringle and freshman Aaron Smith each tallied six kills. They also topped the team with 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
- Senior Aaron Giorgi recorded 14 set assists.
- Zach Rothstein had 12 of the 37 Fontbonne kills.
- Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell registered 32 set assists.
- Rothstein, van Rossum-O'Connell, Sebastian Roca and Nate Paasch each had 10 digs.
- Olivet travels to play Trine (Ind.) University Friday, March 13. First serve at Hershey Hall in Angola is 7 p.m.
