OLIVET, Mich. – Luke DeWitt has been named the head men's volleyball coach at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Athletic Director Ryan Shockey.
"We are excited to have Luke DeWitt take on the role as head coach for our men's volleyball program," said Shockey. "He has shown great ability in working with our student-athletes and I am confident he will be able to provide a positive impact for our program. His passion and dedication to Olivet College and our student-athletes is second to none."
DeWitt moves back into the head coaching role. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Comet women's and men's volleyball teams in 2017. DeWitt served as the interim head men's coach for the final 15 matches of the 2018 season. For the 2018-19 academic year, he remained on the Olivet staff and reverted back to serving as an assistant coach for the women's and men's volleyball teams.
A 2017 Olivet graduate, DeWitt played two years of men's volleyball for the Comets, including being on the inaugural team in 2016. He finished his career with 328 kills, 25 service aces and 126 total blocks.
"I have been around the Olivet College men's volleyball program since its inaugural season and it is very exciting to take over something I am so invested in," said DeWitt. "Olivet has given me many great opportunities over the past few years and becoming the head coach for the men's volleyball program is easily the biggest. I look forward to the growth of our program and the growth of the sport in Michigan."
