Olivet College’s Bauserman named to CoSIDA Academic All-America® second-team
Recent Olivet College graduate Connor Bauserman has earned 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Division III Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field second-team honors.
OLIVET, Mich. – Recent Olivet College graduate Connor Bauserman has earned 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Division III Men's Cross Country/Track & Field second-team honors.
Bauserman was a varsity letter winner on both the cross country and track teams. In cross country, he posted a season-best time of 25:53.9 in the 8K race at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble on Oct. 15, 2016. On the track, Bauserman became a four-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection after winning the 1,500-meter run at the 2017 MIAA Field Day. He previously garnered All-MIAA honors during the 2015 outdoor season championships, and 2016 and 2017 indoor seasons with his performances in the 800-meter run. In addition, Bauserman placed seventh in the 800-meter run to earn NCAA All-American honors at the 2017 Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Bauserman is the school-record holder in the indoor mile (4:25.11) and outdoor 800-meter (1:52.00). He also competed on the school-record indoor 4x400-meter and distance medley relays.
A double major in financial planning, and insurance & risk management, Bauserman had a 3.75 grade point average. He served one year as treasurer and three years as president for the financial planning club. Bauserman was also a part of Gamma Iota Sigma and a resident advisor.
Bauserman is the fourth Olivet student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors during the 2016-17 academic year. The others are Ryan Anderson (first-team football), Travis Lankerd (first-team football) and Isabelle Leon (third-team soccer). Overall, Bauserman is the 25th student-athlete in school history to be an Academic All-America® selection, including the fifth cross country/track & field student-athlete.
The CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
