FREELAND, Mich. – Three Olivet College student-athletes -- senior Jalen Weaver and junior Connor Bauserman from the men's team, and senior Cassie Ciaravino from the women's team -- have garnered 2015 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honors for track and field.
The individual event winners at the MIAA Field Day are automatic selections to the all-conference teams. The remaining at-large selections are voted by the coaches and based on an athlete's performance at the MIAA Field Day.
Weaver was an automatic selection after winning and leading a 1-2 Olivet finish in the 800-meter run. Bauserman placed second in the event. Weaver, a two-time All-MIAA selection, ran a time of 1:53.40 in the finals, while Bauserman had the fastest preliminary time at 1:54.81. The duo joined with Andrew Benkovsky and Tyler Britten for a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking-in at 3:22.22.
Ciaravino, now a three-time All-MIAA pick, scored points in four individual events at the MIAA Field Day. She placed third in the long jump (16'8"), fourth in the high jump (4'11.5"), seventh in the 100-meter dash (:13.45) and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles. Ciaravino also ran legs on both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays.
