Olivet College women’s track & field team receives academic award, Weaver also earns honor
The Olivet College women’s track and field team has received an award for being a 2013-14 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. The award is open to any collegiate track and field program which has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or higher. In addition, senior-to-be Jalen Weaver (Albion) was named to the 2013-14 USTFCCCA All-Academic team.

School-record 111 student-athletes land on 2013-14 MIAA Academic Honor Roll
A school-record 111 Olivet College student-athletes have landed a spot on the 2013-14 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic (MIAA) Honor Roll. Olivet topped the 100 plateau for the first time in school history, with the previous high being 91 for both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years.

Four Olivet College track and field student-athletes earn All-MIAA honors
Four Olivet College student-athletes, junior Cassie Ciaravino and senior Sara Wegener from the women’s team, and junior Jalen Weaver and freshman Travon Tatum from the men’s team, have earned 2014 All-MIAA honors for track and field. In addition, Wegener was selected as the MIAA’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.

The Olivet College men’s and women’s outdoor track and field team competed at the Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University. The invitational featured more than 900 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III schools, as well as NAIA and NJCAA institutions.

Olivet College’s Weaver fails to make finals in 800 run at NCAA Championships
Olivet College junior Jalen Weaver (Albion) failed to make the finals in the 800-meter run at the 2014 NCAA Division Indoor Track & Field Championships inside the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. He ran a time of 1:55.34 in the preliminaries to finish in 14th-place out of 15 runners.
