Men’s swimming team places fifth at MIAA Championships
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s swimming team placed fifth at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, held inside the Venema Aquatic Center and hosted by Calvin University. The Comets totaled 261 points. The host Knights captured the MIAA title with 1,054 points.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's swimming team placed fifth at the 2021 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, held inside the Venema Aquatic Center and hosted by Calvin University. The Comets totaled 261 points. The host Knights captured the MIAA title with 1,054.5 points.
- Sophomore Takato Timmerman finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.16) and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (21.29). During the preliminaries of the 100 breast, he broke the school record with a time of 56.38 seconds. His prelim time in the 50 free, 21.18 seconds, was a personal-best and fifth-fastest in school history.
- Sophomore Carter Moore placed 11th in the 200-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 1:46.39.
- Sophomore Thomas Krug was 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.93). His prelim time, 1:02.82, was a personal-best.
- Senior Kolton Epplett scored 10th-place points in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 17:37.88.
- Sophomore Sebastian O'Leary finished 13th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:57.95). His 1,000-yard split, 10:50.92, was a personal-best.
- Senior Patrick Gault placed 16th in the 400-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 5:23.59.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Dylan Lyons, Timmerman, Moore and sophomore Chris Smith finished in fourth-place with a time of 1:37.79.
- Posting season-best times during the preliminaries were:
- Parker Brown: 200-yard freestyle (1:51.65) … also a personal-best.
- Epplett: 200-yard freestyle (1:51.63) … also a personal-best.
- Gault: 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.15)
- Dylan Lyons: 100-yard backstroke (57.57)
- Smith: 50-yard freestyle (22.87) … also a personal-best.
