Swimming & diving teams split dual meets against Alma
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams split dual meets against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Alma College today at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet. The Comet men beat the Scots, 184-73, while the Olivet women lost, 180-76.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams split dual meets against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Alma College today at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet. The Comet men beat the Scots, 184-73, while the Olivet women lost, 180-76.
- Olivet won 13-of-14 individual events and both relays.
- Freshman Takato Timmerman won all three of his individual events – 100-yard breaststroke (59.66), 200-yard breaststroke (2:13.85) and 200-yard individual medley (2:05.13).
- Senior Eric Wood was also a triple winner – 200-yard freestyle (1:46.71), 50-yard freestyle (22.09) and 500-yard freestyle (4:56.19).
- Freshman Carter Moore took first-place in the 100-yard backstroke (58.68) and 100-yard freestyle (1:00.34).
- Other individual event swimming wins were by freshman Parker Brown in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.22), senior Zach Meharg in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.58) and freshman Jacob Ritter in the 100-yard butterfly (55.15).
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Meharg, Timmerman, Ritter and Wood touched first in 1:40.34.
- The 200-yard freestyle relay quartet of Meharg, senior Tom Decker, junior Kolton Epplett and sophomore Cade Erickson finished first in 1:35.13.
- Senior Dalton Miner swept the diving events, as he scored 207.85 points on the one-meter and 201.15 points on the three-meter.
- Olivet had five first-place finishes.
- Sophomore Kayla Eichaker took first in both butterfly events, finishing the 100 in 1:03.37 and 200 in 2:28.42.
- Senior Amelia Tomalka won the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.88).
- Senior Abbie Slater captured the one-meter diving with 179.80 points and three-meter diving with 138.60 points.
- The Comets are back in the pool Thursday-Friday, Dec. 5-7 when they compete at the Carthage (Wis.) College A3 Classic.
