Swimming & diving teams participate in dual meets at Hillsdale
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams participated in multiple dual meets today at Hillsdale College. In addition to the host Chargers and Comets, three others schools – Notre Dame College of Ohio, Tiffin (Ohio) University and Ursuline (Ohio) College – competed at the Jack McAvoy Natatorium. The Olivet men defeated Notre Dame, 147-133; and fell to Tiffin, 145-128. The Comet women beat Tiffin, 125-93; and Ursuline, 116.50-114.50, but lost to Hillsdale, 221-45; and Notre Dame, 132-99.

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams participated in multiple dual meets today at Hillsdale College. In addition to the host Chargers and Comets, three others schools – Notre Dame College of Ohio, Tiffin (Ohio) University and Ursuline (Ohio) College – competed at the Jack McAvoy Natatorium.
The Olivet men defeated Notre Dame, 147-133; and fell to Tiffin, 145-128. The Comet women beat Tiffin, 125-93; and Ursuline, 116.50-114.50, but lost to Hillsdale, 221-45; and Notre Dame, 132-99.
- Freshman Takato Timmerman won the 50-yard breaststroke (:27.36), and was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.05) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (:22.56).
- Sophomore Cade Erickson was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:38.03) and 500-yard freestyle (5:05.57).
- Senior Eric Wood took the runner-up spot in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.92), third-place in the 100-yard freestyle (:49.59) and fourth-place in the 50-yard freestyle (:22.75).
- Freshman Jacob Ritter and senior Zach Meharg finished third and fourth, respectively in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 55.61 and 56.16 seconds.
- Meharg placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.89) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (:57.47).
- Freshman Sebastian O'Leary clocked-in with the fourth-fastest time in the 50-yard backstroke (:29.90).
- The 400-yard freestyle relay quartet of Wood, Erickson, Ritter and Meharg swam to a third-place time of 3:25.00.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of O'Leary, Timmerman, freshman Carter Moore and senior Tom Decker touched the wall third (1:46.77).
- Senior Dalton Miner swept the diving competition, scoring 205.90 points on the one-meter and 174.00 points on the three-meter.
- The placements in the above bullet points are among all competitors in the event.
- Senior Abbie Slater captured first-place on the one-meter (167.40 points) and three-meter (146.45 points) diving boards.
- Sophomore Kayla Eichaker placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (:58.36) and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.18).
- Sophomore Ally Smith was fourth in the 50-yard backstroke (:32.81).
- The placements in the above bullet points are among all competitors in the event.
- The Comets are off until Saturday, Nov. 16, when they travel to Holland for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meets against Hope College.
