Meisner named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-large third-team
Olivet College sophomore Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-America® At-large third-team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-America® At-large third-team. Meisner was named to the 2006 Academic All-District IV first-team, which made him eligible for the Academic All-America® teams.
Meisner, who has a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) as a double major in visual arts and biology, was a member of the men's swimming and diving team, which won its first-ever Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship in 2006. He is a two-time MIAA champion in the 200-yard breaststroke and two-time runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke. Meisner also competed in both events at the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Division III Championships, earning honorable mention All-American honors in 2005.
Meisner holds the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (:57.29) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.61). He also swam the breaststroke leg of the school-record setting 200-yard medley (1:35.65) and 400-yard medley (3:29.47) relays.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded in athletic competition and in the classroom. A national committee of sports information directors select the members of the Academic All-America® team. To be eligible, the student-athlete must have legitimate athletic credentials and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20.
