DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's soccer team shut out Defiance (Ohio) College, 3-0, at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field in Defiance, Ohio.

  • Final Score: Olivet 3, Defiance 0

  • Records: Defiance 1-5-3 overall, Olivet 1-5-1 overall

  • The Comets took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. After gathering a loose ball, freshman Braden Abbott ripped a shot into the net from 22 yards out.
  • Olivet added to its lead in the 36th minute. Senior Cole Miller sent a through ball to the middle of the box. Sophomore Carter Scheel ran up onto the ball before sending a shot past a diving keeper into the goal at the near post.
  • The Comets stretched their lead to 3-0 in the 63rd minute. From the side of box, Scheel chipped the ball over to senior Kjeil Dickinson who volleyed the ball into the net.

  • Olivet tallied just six shots in the game.
  • Abbott and Dickinson each recorded two shots.
  • Junior Carlos Santos protected the goal for all 90 minutes. He made eight saves.

  • Defiance registered 15 total shots.
  • Tyler Fritchley and Erdwin Quintana had three shots apiece. All three of Quintana's shots were placed on-goal.
  • Orry Killam was the losing keeper.

  • Olivet goes further south in Ohio to Cincinnati Sunday for a game against Mount St. Joseph University, starting at  3:30 p.m.
